Three months ago, Nikita moved with her husband, their two children, and their two dogs to the charming town of Hellevoetsluis. Although she already lived in a nearby village, the desire for more space was so strong that they started looking for a new home. And it wasn't without its challenges: for over two years, they viewed no fewer than 17 properties before finding their dream home. In this interior tour, we'll take you inside the warm, stylish interior Nikita created with furniture from Room108.

Bank Annabelle from Room108

A new home in six weeks

When Nikita and her family got the keys, they immediately knew a lot needed to be done. The house had a country-style kitchen with a striking round counter, not exactly their style. So they decided to tear out the entire kitchen, and they immediately took on a major overhaul. They added an extra bathroom and painted the walls a new color. For now, they've left the garden as is. "We think the garden is beautifully landscaped, so this summer we'll see how it looks. If we're not happy with it, we'll deal with it later," says Nikita.

Old sofa in a new place

Nikita's first encounter with Room108 was about five years ago. "We happened to walk into a Room108 store and were immediately sold," she says. The sofa they bought back then is now in the conservatory, but it still looks fantastic. "After all these years, the quality is still superb. That's why we gave it a new home." With the renovation and move, the living room was ready for a fresh start. "I'm not someone who keeps the same sofa for ten years, so you really want something new that fits in with the rest." Since they were so happy with their previous purchase from Room108, the decision was easy.

Great shopping experience with good advice

“"The shopping was really fun. We were helped by a friendly and patient employee," she says. They even made a floor plan of their living room in the store. "That was so helpful, because then you see exactly what it will look like." They initially envisioned one large armchair for the bay window, but in the end, they chose two: the Elle Lounge Chairs with the Curve Stool upholstered with fabric Rhythm Liver 10 . “I am really happy with that choice. Especially when the sun is shining, it is a really lovely corner to sit in.” They also opted for two Annabelle sofas in fabric MineShell 196. "The best part is that you can put all the elements together yourself." The lounge area is therefore the most popular within the family. The dogs are not allowed on the couch, so they prefer to lie on the rug, the model Chic in color 13. "We initially had a low-pile rug, also from Room108, but this high-pile rug is also very good. It instantly makes the room feel cozy.".

Creating content from home

During the coronavirus pandemic, Nikita embarked on a new adventure: social media. "Before this, I didn't have any social media at all, not even a private one. I actually don't like being in the spotlight," she says. Nevertheless, she decided to delve into curl care. What started small has grown into a serious business with over a million followers on Instagram. "I put a lot of time and energy into it, but it's really enjoyable. And it gives me a lot of freedom. For example, I can work from home." Online, she gets updates via her Instagram account. @Curlykiet Not only questions about curls, but also about her interior. "When I post a story, I often get asked where the sofa is from." Friends and family also frequently compliment her. "Someone recently said there's a kind of zen feeling in the house, and I actually completely agree," she says with a laugh.

Rural warmth and comfort above all

When Nikita has to describe her interior style, she doesn't have to think long: "I'd say rustic and understated. My children always say I love old things," she says with a laugh. During the renovation, she knew exactly which direction she wanted to go. "From the start, I knew the base had to be beige. We even painted the ceiling in a beige shade. That really brings it all together." The dining chairs from Room108 were also a hit. "When we walked into the store, the Bowie dining room chairs "We were immediately sold on the rounded shapes, the elegant armrests, and the cute little legs," she says. She also really likes that you can choose the legs yourself. "We chose black legs because they match our new kitchen perfectly." And just as important: they're incredibly comfortable! "We love to linger at the table, so good chairs are a must! The chairs are upholstered in fabric." Alpine Beige 05.

For now, there are no major interior design wishes left. They're going to enjoy their new home first.
