In the quiet Brabant village of Teeffelen, Nienke and Rens live together in a beautiful detached house. A year ago, they took the step to their new home, where they now enjoy peace, space, and a warm interior that suits them perfectly.
A special opportunity
For Rens, this place feels extra special. “I actually just crossed the street,” he says with a laugh. “You see, my parents live diagonally across the street.” Rens’s father had already mentioned to the neighbors across the street that he was interested, should they ever want to sell. And so it was done. For Nienke, it took some getting used to leaving Oirschot behind, but she, too, feels completely at home in the village. “It’s cozy here and everyone knows each other. And I work at Rens’s company now too, so everything is nice and close.”.
The house was move-in ready, but they completely redesigned the interior to their own taste. Nienke describes their style as calm, warm, and neutral. “I love beige tones and soft colors,” she says. The country-style kitchen provides a beautiful contrast and adds extra atmosphere.
Rest, warmth and a new start
When they bought the house, they decided to tackle the furniture properly right from the start. “We saved up quite a bit and bought almost the entire interior in one go,” says Rens. Consequently, the move went smoothly. “We got the keys on March 21st and slept there that very same evening,” Nienke says with a laugh. “That was truly a dream move.”.
Nienke also enjoys styling. “I regularly go to Whoon to get inspiration. I really enjoy doing that.
Love at first sight
The search for the perfect sofa went very smoothly. “I saw the Annabelle pop up on Instagram and immediately forwarded it to Rens,” says Nienke. Because she already knew Whoon, she went to take a look there first. “The sofa was standing there, exactly as in the photo. That’s when I was basically sold immediately.”.
Not much later, they went back together and the choice was made quickly. “There were more beautiful sofas, but this one really stood out. We ordered it that very same day.‘ They opted for a spacious one. Annabelle sofa in the dust Mine Shell 196. Furthermore, they complemented the seating area with a rug and coffee tables, immediately creating a warm and luxurious ensemble. They are also very enthusiastic about the service. “We received excellent assistance in the store, and they really thought along with us.”.
A real eye-catcher
The armchairs came later. “We thought about that a little longer,” says Nienke. “We really wanted to be sure that they would fit perfectly with us and the interior.” Even though they went to look at other stores, nothing could compare to the Elle armchairs. “It is an eye-catcher in the living room, after all, so you want something special,” says Rens. What tipped the scales for them was the unique look, and particularly the distinctive back.
While the choice of fabric for the sofa was quickly made, they found it a bit more difficult with the armchairs. Ultimately, they chose the fabric. Rhythm Natural 01; a fabric that perfectly complements the rest of the interior without overpowering. Extra nice detail: they eventually won the armchairs via the Room108 giveaway. “That made it extra special, of course,” says Nienke.
Favorite places in the house
They find it difficult to pick just one favorite spot in the house. The living room and kitchen are both very spacious and pleasant. However, the sofa is definitely the place where they relax the most. “When we really want to unwind, we lie comfortably on the sofa watching TV,” she says. The armchairs are used a little too little yet because their busy lives don't always allow for it. “Quietly reading a book… we actually don't really have time for that yet,” she says with a laugh.
The kitchen, where the dining table is also located, is a bright and cozy space. The rustic dining table is combined with dining chairs here. Xavi by Gusj upholstered with fabric Cayenne Congnac. This warm color creates a beautiful contrast with the calm base. The leg is finished in a champagne color, which complements the calm and neutral look that Nienke loves so much.
Although they have only lived there for a year, the house already feels completely like their place. “That is really because we picked everything out ourselves,” says Nienke. “And because of personal things like photos and accessories.” For now, they have no major interior design wishes left. A custom-made cabinet and a side table are still on the schedule, and then the living room will be completely finished. One thing is certain, however: from the very first moment, this house felt like their home.
