The new interior style Japandi is really a trend! It is a combination of the functionality of the Scandinavian style with the minimalism from Japan.
You can easily incorporate the Japandi style into your own interior. It's already possible with a few small adjustments, for example by adding accessories with organic shapes, placing plants or adding wooden elements to your interior. For bigger changes, a light sofa is a good base and a neutral shade on the wall. The rest can be supplemented with furniture in different colors of wood. For example, a cool oval table top or a slatted wood wall.
Contrast and natural materials
Japandi is based on the Japanese philosophy wabi-sabi which is about seeing beauty in imperfections. The style is minimalist, atmospheric and warm, creating a zen feeling. The interior style is completely in line with another current trend: sustainability! Many natural materials are used such as wood, bamboo, linen and natural stone. By not completely finishing these materials imperfections are allowed. Characteristic of this interior style is the addition of contrasts. Contrasts in shape by adding clean lines and at the same time applying organic shapes. The color palette is neutral with many light colors, alternated with dark wood colors.
Combining with Scandinavian interior style
The Japandi interior style and the Scandinavian interior style match well. Both are stylish, minimalist and with light color palettes. Where there is a lot of white in the Scandinavian style, this has been replaced by neutral colors such as beige and light gray in the Japandi style. The pastel shades have also been replaced by darker wood colors. That makes the Japandi style warmer and more atmospheric.
