A HOBBY THAT GOT OUT OF HAND
Monique talks passionately about her life: “For as long as I can remember, I have been busy with color and styling. Every 2 weeks I want to give our house a new twist and I completely change it. My family is also starting to like it more and more. They have really grown into it. For example, Duncan makes a lot of furniture himself from what you see in our house. This makes our house unique and gives it a personal touch. That makes it really something of us together.”
“A while ago I started sharing our interior on Instagram from my holiday photos and I got really nice reactions to this. I came into contact with other interior accounts through this way and before I knew it I was in a group and proudly tapped the first 1250 followers.” Now Monique's Instagram account has grown into a well-known interior account that inspires many. CREATE YOUR OWN STYLE FROM INSPIRATION
How nice is it to get inspiration online for your own home? Instagram is a perfect channel for that and Monique can talk about that. “I follow accounts that have the same style as me, but also extremes that differ from me day and night. I like that. But I also get inspired on holiday. Italy is my favorite in this. I take a lot of photos of the typical streets and different stone walls. I try to reflect this in our house and in our garden.”
For her own interior, Monique has chosen a base of beige, white and black elements. “If you open my wardrobe, you will see the same here too”, Monique jokes afterwards. Her interior style can best be described as a mixed style of Japandi, Nordic and Soft Minimalistic. Wood and natural provide warmth and tranquility. Which can really be felt when you are in the house and walk through to the garden.

How did Monique end up at Room108? She is happy to tell. “I first saw a sofa from Room108 on another interior account. We already had a sofa at the time, but it was a bit small for the whole family. We like to flop down on the sofa on Saturday evenings with the six of us (including the partners) to watch a film and our living room also lends itself to a spacious sofa. Then I contacted Room108 and we soon had an appointment in the store in Rotterdam.”
“The store was tastefully decorated and very nicely styled. Even Duncan complimented that attention had been paid to every corner. The store strikes the right chord, because it could also be in your home. We immediately clicked with the advisors in the store who gave us great advice. It was difficult to make a choice, but in the end we chose the Elena, because Duncan found it the most comfortable.”

Monique and Duncan have chosen the corner sofa Elena upholstered with fabric Lund and color Natural 01. The couch has become the eye-catcher of the living room. “The couch is very pleasing! It relaxes and lounges nicely. The longer corner is also perfect for sitting with several people. We are also very satisfied with the fabric with our cats. This is all going well.”
The sofa is not only popular with Monique and her family, but also with her Instagram followers. “If our sofa is seen in one of my reels or posts, then the sofa can be requested 50 times”, says Monique.
