We get to look inside Joyce's cozy home. Joyce lives in a beautiful apartment at the Kralingse Plas in Rotterdam by herself.
Passion for styling
Joyce has been living in her beautiful apartment for 24 years already. “I'm in a good place here, you really can't get me out of here,” Joyce says laughing. “It is a pre-war house and therefore monumental. Not much has changed in the past 24 years. But the interior did by the way!” And we only think that makes sense. Joyce has been working as an interior stylist for 18.5 years with great pleasure and passion, which immediately shows when you enter her home.
''Light, cozy, lounge and warm''
Joyce doesn't really describe her interior as a specific interior design style. “I find it harder to do that when it concerns myself,” she explains. “When I walk into a place, I can immediately say: this is eclectic or modern. My style is neither modern nor rural, but it does contain elements of both design styles. Hence, a real combination. I myself would call it 'light, cozy, lounge and warm', quite a mouthful!”. We have to admit, we get what she means. The house has a warm and atmospheric appearance as soon as you enter. With the living room serving as cozy corner and a beautiful corner sofa that is immediately eye-catching.
Joyce likes to change her interior regularly. “Twice a year I give my living room a major makeover. Then there will be different wallpaper on the wall, other accessories and other cushions on the sofa. I also like to adapt my interior to the season. In autumn I bring autumn branches into the house and during spring blossom branches appear again."
Search for the perfect sofa
Joyce bought corner sofa Gigi at Room108 Rotterdam. “I received tremendous help there. I really hesitated between a Gigi and an Elise. Both beautiful models, but because I only have a small house, I thought it would be nicer if the sofa stood on legs. Then the living room looks a bit more spacious. And so it became the Gigi.” The corner sofa at Joyce is upholstered with Alpine Natural 01.
Her favorite spot on the sofa is undoubtedly the lounge area. “When I come home from work exhausted, I like to lie back and watch a movie. That is wonderful in this sofa!”
