From old cowshed to stylish farmhouse
“When we bought the farm it was still a cowshed. It was a large shed with the mangers still in it. We tackled everything and that was of course necessary,” Ursula laughs. New flooring has been laid in the farmhouse with underfloor heating and good insulation and a new thatched roof. To create a lot of light, large windows were put in and everything inside was painted white. “We thought it was important to preserve the authentic elements of the cowshed. For example, we left all the wooden trusses in place and also the old trough from which the cows ate can still be seen in the front house.”
Truly an own interior style
“I find it difficult to describe my interior style, because it is all kinds of styles mixed together, which makes it truly my own style,” Ursula says. The authentic elements give the interior a more rugged and industrial look. The furniture, on the other hand, is sleek and modern with a hotel chic touch. “Our house is very symmetrically decorated, everything is in lines. I don't like a lot of fuss in the interior, hence it's all very sleek.”
Source of inspiration for others
Ursula received many compliments about her interior. “Our major renovation did not go unnoticed and I received a lot of questions from people who were curious about it. Six months after the renovation, I started my interior design account. I really enjoy inspiring people in the field of interior design and be engaged in my interior in this way.”
Huge sofa looks open and spacious
“The sofa is huge with lots of lounge areas and that is wonderful! We can sit on the sofa with the whole family at the same time and everyone has their own place,” Ursula says. She picked out her sofa at Whoon Oisterwijk. She opted for corner sofa Victoria in a U-shape upholstered with the fabric Lund Natural 01. “Despite its size, the sofa still looks open and spacious in the living room and that's because the sofa is low and has few railings. I wanted a light fabric and when I saw this fabric in the store I was immediately sold,” Ursula says. “We have had the sofa since July 2023 and we really like it. The lounge area is my favorite spot on the sofa.”
